Vice Presidents of Community Service

Mission & Vision:

The Community Service Committee is dedicated to orchestrating a tangible and enduring positive influence within our local community. Our endeavor is to curate meaningful avenues where postgraduates can devote their time by volunteering, and contribute to fundraising initiatives. Our unwavering commitment is directed towards proactive advocacy, rapid response, and resolution of pertinent matters not only within our immediate locality but also on a broader scale. This mission is fortified by our proactive engagement with the dynamic postgraduate community.

Our past initiatives

  • A volunteering database created by our past VP of community service 
  • A successful canned food drive, in collaboration with the New Haven Pride Center
  • Bake sale & hot cocoa fundraiser - hurricane relief funds in Puerto Rica & Florida
  • Paint & Sip fundraiser - United for Ukraine

Current initiatives

  • Monthly Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen (DESK) volunteering shifts 

  • HAVEN Free Clinic’s ninth annual 5K fundraiser

  • Guidelines for clinical volunteering at Yale

  • Future initiatives (Initiatives in the works!)

    • Mentoring high school students and assisting with college applications 

    • Canned Food Drive and Bake Sale 

Committee members will participate in

  • Periodic committee meetings 

  • Round table discussions to identify initiatives to contribute towards

  • Conceptualizing fundraising events to engage the community

  • Developing long-lasting relationships with volunteer organizations within the New Haven County
